What is a Life Coach?

What Is Life Coaching?

There are no short cuts to success. Yet, with the proper tools and resources you can accelerate your success, so that you achieve your goals and realize your dreams in far less time than you could have on your own.

One of the single most effective success-accelerators is coaching. A coach or mentor helps breathe life into your intentions, transforming them into concrete goals and then providing you with the transformational tools and motivation you need to turn those goals into reality.

Whatever the area is that needs to be addressed, each coaching scenario is carefully mapped out in its curriculum content and progress plan for maximum effectiveness.

What a Life Coach Does

It isn’t enough to achieve just any goal. You need to be working toward the RIGHT goals, ones that will meet your deepest needs, connect you with your purpose and core, and make you truly happy.

Many times, the things that people think they desire would really only treat the symptoms of their longing, not its source. A coach helps you get to the root of what you want, so you can make sure that what you’re working for really is the key to your long-term happiness.

Your emotions and subconscious mind may not enjoy the status quo, but they are accustomed to it. They understand it, they’re comfortable with it, and they know how to handle it. So without even realizing it, you create elaborate habits, mindsets and defenses that are designed to keep you safe and your world familiar, and to prevent any change from occurring in your life – even if the change is positive.

Because of this, a coach can help you understand what habits and beliefs are not serving you, and how to change them into positive, powerful patterns and mindsets that enable you to create bigger successes, faster than you would ever have believed possible before.

Many people believe that they’re too poor, in the wrong geographical area, or are not pretty enough, talented enough, lucky enough, or otherwise able in any way to create the lives they’ve been dreaming of…

But the truth is, many people have overcome even bigger obstacles than the ones you’re facing now, and they’ve achieved success that most people only dream about.

A good mentor explains the principles that successful people use, and helps their clients apply them to their own lives, so that their circumstances no longer control whether or not they can have the life they desire.

What Are The Benefits of Having a Life Coach?

Working with a coach empowers you to stop being ruled by your circumstances, limitations and old wounds, and start to create the life you desire, no matter how much or how little you have to work with.

Coaches help you to understand which goals are worth going after, and which are only a distraction from your real needs and desires, so you don’t waste years going down the wrong path. And they teach you the principles of success, so you become capable of creating ANYTHING you want, even if it doesn’t seem possible right now.

They guide you through the creation of a practical, actionable plan, and they support you through the process of putting that plan into action, so you’re never left to ask yourself “OK, I did that part – now what?”

They also help you overcome the fears, doubts and distractions that inevitably arise when the status quo begins to change, so you don’t get dragged back into your old patterns just as you were beginning to make progress.

Because of all of this, you gain the ability to become healthier, happier, wealthier, and less stressed than you ever have been before, and you’re also empowered to create the lifestyle and attract the love that you desire and deserve.

How Does Life Coaching Work?

In this style, you and the coach would connect one-on-one, either in person, through the phone, or over the internet, usually for 60-90 minutes each week. You would discuss where you currently are, what needs to happen next, and how you can take that step and keep making progress. You would then be given specific action steps to carry out that week, and you’d also go over the results of last week’s projects, so you could be sure that you were moving in the right direction.

This is similar to 1-on-1 coaching, with added benefits and disadvantages.

The benefit of group coaching is that you can network with the other members of the group, and receive teaching and support from them as well as from the coach. You can also learn from their journeys as they share their struggles and action steps, so you could end up gleaning information that would never have come up in a 1-on-1 setting.

On the downside, it does result in less intense and focused personal care, as you have to share your time on the call with other people.

What Problems Can a Life Coach Solve?

The principles that coaches use can be applied to ANY area of life. Here are a few of the problems that coaches frequently solve:

  • You’re stuck in a job you don’t enjoy, but you don’t know how to transition into a better one.
  • You’re struggling to make ends meet, and no matter how hard you work, you never manage to get ahead in life.
  • Even though you’re an adult, you still don’t know what you want to be when you grow up. You want to discover your purpose, but you don’t know how.
  • You yearn to find love and marry your soul-mate, but you can’t seem to make that connection no matter how much you try.
  • You’re repeatedly getting sick, and you desperately want that cycle of illness to end, but you don’t know how to make it stop.
  • You’re stressed, exhausted and burned out, but you don’t know how to get everything done without working long into the night.
  • You’ve been told that somehow, you’re not good enough to create the life you’ve been longing for, and part of you believes it.
