What is the first thing you think in the morning when you wake up? What are the first words you speak? We all have something we say every morning.
Is it positive or negative?
There was a time…
I would wake up dreading the day. My first words sounded like…”Oh God, another day.” I would drag my feet out of bed, anticipating issues and conflict. And guess what…that’s what I got. One thing going wrong after the other. Until I learned, “what we ask, is what we receive.” My grandmother helped me learn that.
These days…
the scenario is quite the opposite. As I start waking up and just as soon as I become aware of my pillow, I smile. I am happy I get to wake up another day. My thoughts are of gratitude for all the good I have in my life. Next, I visualize my day a for a bit, affirming it will be a good day, filled with gifts. Whatever the day brings me, I can make it be a good day. I believe it’s not about what comes our way, but rather, how we respond to what comes our way that makes a difference.
Do you remember Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean movie? “The problem is not the problem. The problem is your attitude about the problem.”
On my way out of bed, I ask myself, “What 5 new things will I accomplish today that will bring me peace?” I don’t answer this question. The course of my day will.
This is my daily morning-motivation, I wanted to share with you in the chance it might help you in some way. It took me a while to get me into the habit, but I persisted because it felt way better than the old “Oh my God…”
